Studio Zoethout is a brand for kids (and parents) that still dream and have a big imagination, kids that like adventure, love to explore, appreciate retro and vintage style, kids that have an open mind and know there is a great big world out there. Think of a young Steven Spielberg for example.
One of my products is a wall light made out of real wood, like oak or walnut and cut in the shape of a rodeo-cowboy, a deer, or a camplight. But instead of painting them with bright colors, they are all in their ‘natural’ wood color with maybe just some clear paint or wax on them. The ideal place for a lamp like this would be on a vintage – or retro looking wallpaper. A geometrical pattern or a wallpaper from the forties, fifities or sixties.
Another product is a handwritten word cut out of wood for a wall décor. But don’t think of the cliché, but think of words like Toyboy, Mon Cheri, Believer, Self Made, Homeboy etc. Other products are also in the making, like big letters made out of wood as thick as 8 centimeters. Pinboards, mirrors on a wooden shape and clothesracks. I also want to expand later with items made of fabric or paper.
The name: Zoethout ; it’s an old fashioned dutch candy. It is an actual wooden stick that tastes sweet. Here in Holland kids buy it from a candystore and then they just suck all the sugar out of it. The actual translation is zoet=SWEET, hout=wood. I choose the name STUDIO ZOETHOUT because it is a cute name with a reference to the past, it is sweet and it is made of wood.
The logo should be retro or vintage style, aventureous, sweet and authentic with lots of imagination. Maybe an image with a selfmade treehouse? It has to be adored by boys and girls of all ages.

  Met deze inzending wil ik mijn eerste idee laten zien. Een uniek authentiek logo met het aansprekende vosje uit je leuke collectie. Mijn logo is anders dan de rest van de deelnemers omdat ik acht hou dat het goed bruikbaar moet zijn voor stempels en op een klein formaat, zoals een sticker.
  De kleuren en lettertype kan altijd anders. Ik heb zelf er tekst bij bedacht, maar dit kan ik uiteraard nog veranderen. Een logo als dit is uitstekend bruikbaar op onder andere kaartjes, vlag of de zijkant van een busje. Het vosje kan je op deze manier ook los gebruiken, als een icoontje voor je bedrijf.
  Graag ontvang ik feedback om het ontwerp beter te maken of om een andere richting in te slaan.

  I have not seen your logo before, so it is not based on your logo. I also did not use your fox, I re-drawn myself from the picture. The picture is given by the client, so it is not your idea in the first place. I understand your feelings and comment, but the fox is not yours.

  If the client thinks something else fits better I don't mind changing it. It was not my purpose to make you upset about it.
  Short time ago someone really copied my logo, the client and the designer did not reply on my comment. Yesterday I did win the contest, just trying to say I know how you feel. I won't steal your logo. If I wil continu this contest I will also use the other icons.

  Here it happens unfortunately and mostly i don`t say anything. Yesterday i noticed in another competition some of my idea being copied and therefore i was kinda `ok, enough:)`...I even don`t enter to some competitions if the icon that i thought has already been used..Some people use your idea, change it a little bit and don`t even mind...But thanks a lot for your kindness:)..

  bedankt voor je inzending. Leuk logo. en leuk dat jij ook het vosje hebt gebruikt in het ontwerp. Het is niet helemaal wat ik zoek helaas. Het is te zacht en lief. nogmaals ontzettend bedankt.
