Studio Zoethout is a brand for kids (and parents) that still dream and have a big imagination, kids that like adventure, love to explore, appreciate retro and vintage style, kids that have an open mind and know there is a great big world out there. Think of a young Steven Spielberg for example.
One of my products is a wall light made out of real wood, like oak or walnut and cut in the shape of a rodeo-cowboy, a deer, or a camplight. But instead of painting them with bright colors, they are all in their ‘natural’ wood color with maybe just some clear paint or wax on them. The ideal place for a lamp like this would be on a vintage – or retro looking wallpaper. A geometrical pattern or a wallpaper from the forties, fifities or sixties.
Another product is a handwritten word cut out of wood for a wall décor. But don’t think of the cliché, but think of words like Toyboy, Mon Cheri, Believer, Self Made, Homeboy etc. Other products are also in the making, like big letters made out of wood as thick as 8 centimeters. Pinboards, mirrors on a wooden shape and clothesracks. I also want to expand later with items made of fabric or paper.
The name: Zoethout ; it’s an old fashioned dutch candy. It is an actual wooden stick that tastes sweet. Here in Holland kids buy it from a candystore and then they just suck all the sugar out of it. The actual translation is zoet=SWEET, hout=wood. I choose the name STUDIO ZOETHOUT because it is a cute name with a reference to the past, it is sweet and it is made of wood.
The logo should be retro or vintage style, aventureous, sweet and authentic with lots of imagination. Maybe an image with a selfmade treehouse? It has to be adored by boys and girls of all ages.

  Dank voor de sterren! Hierbij een aangepaste versie, iets mooier blauw met handgeschreven lettertype en een ster ipv kroontje.

  Nogmaals bedankt voor ook deze inzendingen. De lettertypes maken het er niet beter op helaas. Ik gebruik zelf vaak photoshop en coreldraw en die lettertypes zijn iets wat ik zelf ook zou kunnen maken, maar dat is niet speciaal genoeg. Sterretje is leuk. Ik ga nog even goed nadenken hoe we dit ontwerp kunnen verbeteren.

  De lettertypes heb ik gekozen n.a.v. je Pinterest pagina. Zou je kunnen zeggen welke je wel aanspreken?

  Het is een ingewikkeld proces, logo/huisstijl ontwerpen. Ik zoek dus een lettertype dat niet standaard uit coreldraw komt. Het liefst handgemaakt. De ontwerpen in mijn pinterest pagina zijn ook (bijna) allemaal handgemaakt. Ik ben zelf ook actief met grafische programma's en ben dus daarom wel kritisch. Anders had ik het zelf ook kunnen doen. Ik weet niet of je zelf een beetje kan tekenen? De letters van zoethout zijn de juiste stijl alleen is het misschien te perfect en te standaard overgenomen van een tekenprogramma. Ik vind het moeilijk om uit te leggen. Maar je bent zeker op de goede weg, zoals ik al bij je eerste ontwerp had gezegd.

  Dank je wel voor je inzending. Ontzettend leuk. Dit komt echt wel in de buurt bij wat ik zoek. Ik zelf alleen niet zo gek op kroontjes en de lettertypes (vooral van studio) twijfel ik ook een beetje over. De achtergrondkleur zou ook wel wat blauwer kunnen zijn...
